The Ultimate How to Disappear

The Ultimate How To Disappear – Part 21

Here is part 21 of The Ultimate How to Disappear, a book I recently wrote but decided to trash since it was not very good. However, some of the information is useful. Do note, unedited.

A good skip tracer does not waste their time searching regurgitated database information or knocking on your neighbor’s door. No, a good skip tracer is a social engineer who picks up the phone and violates all your private information. A quick education in skip tracing. When a skip tracer hunts for you, they search for the information you left behind. Such as phone records, bank transfers, airline travel and any other place your information might sit. A skip tracer pretexts (lies) by posing as you or an employee of the company. At the end of a day a good skip tracer could possess every piece of information about you.

The only way you thwart your enemy in the disappear world is by creating digital disinformation and digital distortion.

Digital Disinformation… Utilizing the internet to make it appear you live in Berlin but actually live in London.

Digital Distortion… Destroying your digital information beyond recognition for the purpose of confusing your enemy.

Offline Disinformation… Offline disinformation must happen as well!

Delete… Does not exist on the internet. Disinformation is the only tool.

Credit Card Disinformation… Buy books and travel movies about places you will never visit.

Credit Card Disinformation… Reserve hotels in cities you will never visit.

Credit Card Disinformation… Buy plane or train tickets but do not travel.

Currency Disinformation… At your local bank, purchase currency for a country you will not visit. If your predator has access to your banking information they will wonder, why you purchased one million Burundian Franc’s.

Make those mothers wonder!

To push the disinformation further contact the Credit Bank of Bujumbura by phone and email to inquire about opening a bank account. FYI, Credit Bank of Bujumbura can be opened via mail. Not that I recommend putting any significant amount of money in Burundi.

ATM Disinformation… Use an ATM weekly in a different part of town. This will make your predator wonder, why there?

Buy travel magazines!

The Ultimate How To Disappear – Part 20

This is from The Ultimate How to Disappear, a book I wrote but felt it was best not to publish. Note, unedited.

Part 20

A Story Of Happiness… A client was living with their spouse on divorce day. From what I understood life under the roof was a land of misery, contributed by both parties. The client had a disappear plan up their sleeve and decided to make peace and try to not to engage in confrontation.

The client figured that if they backed off, such actions would make life easier until they both parted ways but this was not the case. The change in attitude made the client’s spouse extremely suspicious and a private detective was hired to follow the client.

The client had a cash business and at the close of each day would make a deposit into a joint account at Bank A. However, after each deposit the client walked across the street to Bank B and made a deposit. Bank B was an account the client never disclosed in the divorce papers. This discovery of the hidden bank account blew up in my clients face and did not play out very well in court.

My client’s lawyer asked the spouse’s lawyer how the client figured out there was another bank account. The lawyer explained that the happiness of the client was so out of character, it was suspicious. The lesson here is if you are a miserable bastard, remain a miserable bastard until your ass is out the door.

Jailbreak… If your ex or a predator sees a change in you this will definitely prompt suspicion. The pre-disappearing phase is no different than a jailbreak. You must remain cool and no one should ever see a change in you.

Illusion… If you have always been viewed as weak, keep the illusion. If you have always been viewed as a stingy miser, keep the illusion. No one should ever know if you are coming or going.

Being On The Run… I view being on the run as not being disappeared. The question is which will you be? Those that go on the run are typically responding to a threatening situation. That situation could be escaping from prison, jumping bail, walking out on a violent spouse or another type of immediate escape.

Being Disappeared… Is finding a secure and private location where you can start over and build a new life.

Being On The Run Or Being Disappeared… You need to decide if it is safer for you to be on the run or disappear to a specific location. There are pros and cons for each but only you can determine which is safest. The decision should be based on who your predator is, why you are disappearing, how much money you have, your ability to be mobile, is it physically safe for you to be on the run and such factors.

There is a lot of exposure being on the run. The constant movement, the passing through bus stations, train stations and airports. You are creating a lot of digital foot prints and putting your face in many public places. Every time you check into a hotel there is a camera snapping your photo. To avoid hotels and motels, couch surf or use private apartment rentals.

Being disappeared can create complacency and sometimes make you a sitting target. To a degree, you never know if the predator has rolled into to town and is stalking. Yet, being disappeared, you create less footprint and less exposure to outside factors.

I believe the strategy is to identify the dangers of the day. Whether that day involves running or being disappeared. Before you walk out the door, anticipate an do not underestimate the dangers and figure out how to avoid.

Walkaway Day… A few years back I did a documentary called Erasing David. It was about David Bond who planned to disappear and see if he could be erased for a period of time without being located by a private detective.

When I sat down with David to discuss his disappearance he planned to walk out his door and vanish. My first question being, how do you know the private investigator is not sitting on the corner waiting to follow you. David did not think about the first second of the walkaway.

Your walkaway is the most important second of your disappearance. When you walk out your door, it is game on, you did it and it all begins. Therefore, when you step into the street you are fair game and in the hunt.

It does not matter if your predator is doing a surveillance on you or not. You must assume the predator and big brother is watching. Therefore, you accept the fact that you are under the eye and your actions must incorporate the eye watching you. I could play know it all and write fifty tips on how to thwart a surveillance but it is not my expertise. Read a book about surveillance and counter surveillance.

The goal of this book is to teach you to think strategically not just about disappearing. Prior to walkaway day you should be well read in many arts. Think, offshore banking, privacy, surveillance, strategy, traveling, technology and other books that deem appropriate in your situation.

No one book is the bible of your disappearance!

Landing Zone… When you are planning your walkway do not go straight to your destination. Choose a location somewhere in the middle and hole up there. This will provide you the opportunity to determine if you are under the eye or left some footprints. The landing zone should never be a hotel it is best to be a private apartment rental.

The most dangerous part about the walkaway is the physical surveillance you will encounter. The cameras in a train station, toll crossings, hotel lobbies and even small bodegas. Avoiding surveillance is like wading through a tank full of sharks. All you an do is your best to avoid.

The walkaway has to be carefully planned. However, you must be cautious about leaving footprints while you research and plan. I would suggest using Google Earth and Google Maps, they show you what you need to know and the best part is you can see the buildings and street corners on your route. For example, you may have planned to walk down 56th street but discover there is a diplomatic mission on that street and heavy physical and digital security. Perhaps on 9th street there is a police station. Are there road closings?

Is it a Friday night and there will be more police on the road? Is it the 4th of July and there are DUI check points? Are you in the US and driving to close to the Mexican border? Maybe a catastrophic event took place a week earlier? Any of these events could throw a wrench into your walkaway.

I mentioned that when you walk away, it should appear like it is a normal day. Why this is so important is you may start your exit and something could occur and you may need to retreat and hold your disappearance for a day or two.

The Ultimate How To Disappear – Part 19

This is from the a book I recently wrote, The Ultimate How to Disappear, however, the book did not turn out as expected so I trashed it. Please note, unedited.

Part 19

Where There Is Human Touch There Is No Privacy… The reality of privacy is, it is a secret. If there is more than one person involved the secret is vulnerable. Always be prepared that the secret will be leaked.

Mobile Show Phone… Before disappearing you will set up a Show Phone. This is a phone you will carry in public or at social events. This phone will NEVER have any real identifiers entered into the phone. You will have numbers in the phone book to the local Chinese restaurant, the supermarket, the bus station and names like Bob, Carol, Ted and Alice. However, their phone numbers will be random businesses. You will NOT have photos of yourself or people of your past. Never take photos in or in proximity of your home due to GPS.

A Show Phone is a phone you have with you when you are around other people. The reason for the bogus information is, if you leave the phone behind, someone asks to use the phone there is no threat of identifiers falling into the wrong hands.

SIM Danger… Do not play Jason Bourne and have twenty SIM chips in your possession while traveling. If you are randomly searched this will be looked upon as mighty suspiciously. Mighty suspicious leads to a backroom anal probe.

Simple Lesson… Never carry tools of the trade that can create suspicion. Review your car or luggage and ask yourself if something can be considered suspect. If it can, trash it and move on without it.

The Great Disappearing Biblical Question… Can one truly disappear in the age of Big Brother and big data? The answer is yes and the reason why is, information is just information. The true danger is the human eye.

Again… Before you walk out the door, search your person and bag. Determine if anything can create suspicion or danger. Always have you ID at the grab of a hand, this way you never fumble in your bag. Your fumble could look suspicious. Actually if you sneeze the wrong way in some place it could be probable cause.

Know Your Story… Before you disappear and walk out that door, know what you must know. Who you are, where you are going and why. When a person crosses customs or is stopped by law enforcement they are immediately judged by their demeanor and response. If you come across like an idiot and are unsure of your travel, you will be taken for a cup of coffee in the back room. If you know what I mean.

Know Your Rights… No matter where you are disappearing to, know the law and know your rights. If you have the right to remain silent be so! If you have the right to say no, say no. sometimes just knowing your rights will let you pass go.

Find The Balance… Knowing your rights does not mean you should be a dickhead. Find the balance between standing up for yourself and being polite. If you are a dick you will be treated like a dick. The balance of your freedom depends on the outcome of such conversations. This is where you must think like a strategist, assess the situation and respond according. Then again, there might come a time where you must dead eye them and play it out. Yet, these things should not be tested on isolated roads in the middle of nowhere.

People, Places & Things… As I stated one can disappear in the ever intrusive age of technology and government spying. However, you must create a mindset and recognize that people, places and things can bring you down.

This idea derives from when I was a kid in Daytop, a drug program. They stressed the fact of people places and things. If you do not want to shoot heroin, do not hang out with addicts or in places where addicts hang. The same goes for disappearing, if you do not want get popped or be discovered in your, disappear world, do not hang out with people, in places or do things that will compromise your freedom. There is a flipside to this. Sometimes you cannot control people, places and things. Therefore, be prepared for the people, places and things that land in your lap.

People… You could turn the corner and run into someone you have not seen in twenty years.

A client of mine, Charlie Brown is a college professor who occasionally writes articles about international criminals. On a Sunday an article was published and on Tuesday three men knocked on his door. The three men explained that they are going to kill him, not today, not tomorrow or next month but perhaps in three months or six months. Either way they are going to kill him by the end of the year.

I met Charlie in a café and he was a bag of mess. He was distraught and appeared highly paranoid. I do not like talking with clients in bars or cafes, people eavesdrop. We moved the conversation to the Waldorf Astoria and found a quiet spot in the corner.

Charlie wanted to move to the Pacific North West of America, which I explained would be a huge mistake. He was college professor and probably taught thousands of students who were now spread across the US. My though was he needs to go to a place where he would not run into people. He was adamant and had no desire to leave the country.

When you are thinking of your new disappear land it is important to think of the who factor. Who can or will I run into in San Diego or Belmopan. Do I know anyone who lives in Paris, Lisbon or Boston? Did that company I work for ten years ago open a new office in London? You cannot identify every threat but try to identify as many as possible to reduce the threat.

But Sometimes… What happened next never, ever happened in my life. Over walks a colleague Charlie has not seen in twenty years. I mean, what are the chances? Charlie turns white in shock and has a difficult time introducing the long haired dodgy dude sitting next to him. This was a totally uncomfortable situation and eventually the colleague wanders away.

Here is the problem with a such a scenario. Let us say, Charlie was disappeared in Seattle and sitting in a Starbucks. The colleague walks over, says hello to Charlie, Charlie is all weirded out and the colleague eventually walks away.

Where the danger lurks is, the colleague could walk away and post on Twitter he saw Charlie Brown in a Seattle Starbucks. The criminals who plan to put Charlie in the dirt nap could have Google alerts. That story would end with a bullet in Charlies head. Sometimes, random shit happens so be prepared.

Places… Your environment is always a danger. Whether it is a shopping mall, supermarket or moving train. The key is to reduce your exposure and not put yourself in places that can expose you. When I think of London, I think facial recognition. When I think of Times Square, I think shit loads of cops. Before you start your day’s travel, think about who and what you will come your way. If there is a safer road, take that road. Risk is cool in poker but not when it comes to freedom.

Habits… We are all creatures of habits. Make a list of your habits. When I talk of habits, I mean things like, specific cologne, lipstick, words you say or jeans you buy. Habits include, your early trip to Burning Man or opening of deer season in Michigan. Plus, you should not shoot Bambi’s mom, bad karma.

Evolution… To a degree there must be an evolution of self. Not a new identity but personal changes that will leave parts of the old you in the past. In the pre-disappearing stage, think about you and aspects that can and will make you vulnerable. The evolution of self should be a natural letting go not an unbelievable recreation of who you were or want to be in the future.

The Ultimate How To Disappear – Part 18

Here is part of The Ultimate How to Disappear, a book I wrote but dumped. I was not thrilled with the results, however, there is some interesting content. Do note the postings are unedited.

Part 18

Social Deception… Let us say you are going to use Chicago as your disinformation city. Meaning, you are going to create disinformation to lead your predator to Chicago while you are disappeared in Rhode Island.

The best way to create social deception is to use social sites like Facebook, Twitter, Blogs and such. You will create numerous fake friends who all have fakes social sites. You will create communications about you moving to Chicago. When you create conversation it is important your fake friends do not speak or write like you, mix it up a bit. In addition, do not have the same conversation with all your friends.

Tools… For each fake digital entity, you create you will use a prepaid SIM phone number as their identity, 212.555.1212 Kurt Duesterdick. The purpose is some social sites and email services require a mobile number for verification. To keep track of all of your identities build a website but DO NOT PUBLISH website.

Digital Tool… Let me preface, I am not a techie! When creating the fake digital identities, you will use a VPN, Virtual Private Network, which changes your IP address. When you create one Facebook page, you will use the VPN as if you are in Chicago and for the next Denver. Your digital entities should all come from different locations. This will safeguard from the social site blocking you from creating

212.555.1212 Kurt Duesterdick – Chicago
212.555.1213 Eric Jone – Leonia
212.555.1224 Max Grofet – Beverly Hills

Again, you will keep track of all of these identities by building a website and NOT publish.

Identity… Most would assume that a new or fake identity is the holy grail of disappearing. If you can obtain an original passport, social security number and passport, I guess it would be but it comes with huge risks. The central danger is the person you purchased the new or fake identity from, if they get popped your secret could become their get out of jail free card.

If you are not running from the law, there is no reason to use a fake identity. Plus, the day you use a fake identity you become a criminal and now the law is your predator. If you decide you need a new identity, it should be something you create on your own. There is nothing truer then the idea that two can keep a secret if one is dead. If you are going to use a new identity it is best to have several, depending on one is too risky. There is too many variable that can come into play when using a fake, stolen or duplicated identity. Do you really want to keep all of your money in a bank under one fake identity?

The great mystery of life is how does one obtain a new identity. Unfortunately, there is no answer to the question. Typically, the resolution comes from one’s devious mind or governmental connections. I eliminate the idea of buying from a street corner criminal because that is just plain dumb. A fake identity is only as good or secure as what you created or who you purchased it from.

Don’t Be Dumb… Never purchase a camouflage passport which is from a country like Rhodesia, Siam or Yugoslavia. What do these countries have in common? They no longer exist. There are websites that sell camouflage passports and tout its uses, you might as well sport a Junior G-Man Badge and flash it when in need. Some people buy camouflage passports to leave in hotel rooms when traveling. Others use if they are in dangerous countries so as not to flash a western passport. Try walking through American customs with a passport from Tibet and see how quick you end up in an orange jumper.

Be Virtual Not Identifiable… Disappearing is about freedom and to obtain freedom you must be virtual. Virtual in the sense where you are not connected to anything physical or tangible. Having a fake identity makes you identifiable as that handle and using your own identify makes you identifiable as you.

When you are planning your disappearance you must ask yourself, if the scenario you are creating makes you identifiable. If it does you have a problem because this can make you tangible and when you are tangible you become vulnerable to capture.

Banking… A bank account in your real name or fake name can make you identifiable. The transactions in the accounts can make you tangible. The added layer of virtual would be to use an offshore bank account. However, the day’s offshore banks are not as secure or private as they have been in the past.

The offshore banking world is an earthquake where l changes happen daily due to the nature of the business. Before forming a corporation and opening a bank account do your homework. Do not solely rely on the person providing you the banking information and taking your cash. The two key questions are how private are you and how quickly can you extract your funds.

It is worth mentioning again, that offshore banks claim to offer one hundred percent anonymity but that could change in the blink of an eye. The bank could be hacked; a whistle blower does some nasty business or big brother gets all jiggy and steals the banking information.

The Ultimate How To Disappear – Part 15

I wrote a new book, The Ultimate How to Disappear, however, it did not turn out so well and I trashed the book. However, I figured I would post some relevant information. Note, the content is unedited.

Part – 15

Prompted Conversation… Speaking with people in your new disappear world can be dangerous and you must always be aware. What is most important is to listen to how people you encounter phrase their questions.

If you meet someone in a bar and they say. “Hey, I live near the library.” This is a prompted statement and expects you to respond with, “I live near the park.” The person speaking has given you a piece of geography and to a degree expects the same of you.

If you are at a party and someone states. “Hey, you look familiar, you work at Macy’s.” This too is a prompted statement where you are supposed to respond with, “No, IBM.”

This line of questioning could be innocent and simply a person’s way of trying to get to know you. Unfortunately, you do not exist in an innocent world. You exist in a world of danger, a world where people becoming too close can explode the disappear world.

Listening is a real tool and it is not just hearing. It is understanding what the person is asking or stating. First train yourself to listen and listen in accurately. Second is to recognize what it is the person is actually stating or asking. Third is thinking before you speak.

When others use prompted conversation on you do not be illusive in the sense where you answer with all blanks. Flip the conversation back at them and engage them in their world, “Oh, the bank. How is that area?” or “I wish I worked at Macys, the discounts would be great.”

Have Head Conversations… Prior to meeting a new client I have the meeting conversation in my head at least five hundred times. The head conversation is a fast moving train zipping with questions and answers. What if they want something illegal, how will I respond? What if they are not who they say they are, how will I respond and what will I do? What if this, what if that. The what if can be your greatest ally in social situations.

Are You Being Pretexted… Most people you meet will not have ill intentions or ulterior motives. However, some will. These can be people you meet socially at a bar who simply want to get laid. Or they can be someone in a foreign country who sees you as a meal ticket.

Pseudocide – Faking Your Death… Some conspiracies never die and if you do something to create a conspiracy it will haunt you. One such haunting that follows is a mysterious death, it always brings out the buffs and the sleuths. If you involve yourself in an act of pseudocide (faking death), you will add to the collection of predators on your heels.

If you are planning your pseudocide near water, you are creating a naturally suspicious environment. Timelines are the curse of the crooked. What did the subject do twenty-four hours prior to the incident and what happened at this location after the incident?

If you are going to fake your death, create a timeline and be aware of your actions. All the suspicion dwells in the hours before the execution. Wouldn’t you want to know what law enforcement will find once you pull the ripcord?

If your death involves falling off your boat, are there videos of you buying extra gas? This could suggest a second boat. Did you check MapQuest for direction from the beach the day before you planned your big plunge? Did you use an ATM an hour before and have a backpack in tow? The day prior did you ride a bicycle and chain it to a fence?

If you took the time to create a timeline of your actions or potential actions, you would notice the flaws in your plan. Once your presumed death hits the news you become a curiosity. A curiosity in the news is only good when you are selling books.

In one of my previous books I discuss the risks of faking your death. There are too many variable and moving parts. You have no way of controlling the loose ends. Sometimes walking off into the sunset is the best answer.
